Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación
Historic landmark in the heart of Torrox Pueblo
Among the narrow streets of the white village of Torrox Pueblo, this extraordinary church has been central to village life for centuries. Built on the remains of an ancient mosque and largely rebuilt in 1889, the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación breathes history. The structure is Baroque, the floor plan a Latin cross, and the ceiling still has beautifully crafted mudéjar woodwork. The tower, with three stories and an ornate spire, towers proudly over the square. Inside, you'll find peace, character and the quiet echo of the past. Come on a Sunday? Then Mass begins at 11:00 a.m. sharp. Combine your visit with a drink at the colorful Plaza de la Constitución, less than a minute's walk away.
