Home " Experiences " Discover the Cueva de los Siete Palacios
In the center of Almuñécar, hidden under the remains of the old castle, lies one of Andalusia's most extraordinary museums: the Cueva de los Siete Palacios. No marble stairs or glass display cases, but excavated rock walls, Roman arches and a mystical atmosphere. You walk past archaeological finds such as ancient vases, jars and tools, all from the region. Eyecatcher of the museum? An impressive Egyptian urn, which ended up here via the Roman trade network. It is small, uncluttered, but packed with history - perfect for spending an hour immersed in the past.
The caves are accessible to all ages and are part of Almuñécar's archaeological heritage. Thanks to its natural coolness, it is also an ideal stop on hot days. Entrance is free, which makes it even more attractive. Whether you are a lover of history, or just want something different from the sun and sea, this is a short but powerful experience. You'll find the museum within walking distance of the old town. Note: closed on Mondays!
