Home " Experiences " Visit Friday market in La Herradura
Every Friday morning, the quiet coastal town of La Herradura comes alive around the Plaza de la Independencia. The Friday market is not a tourist overload, but rather a charming collection of stalls with local character. Think piles of handmade soap, bottles of golden olive oil, pieces of spicy goat cheese, and colorful ceramics gleaming in the morning light. You can hear a mixture of Spanish and German, a touch of French, and here and there Dutch. The atmosphere is relaxed, with local residents doing their weekly shopping and visitors looking for a unique souvenir or a chat with the vendor.
The market is ideal for those who want a taste of local life. Whether you are in pairs or wandering around with children, there is plenty to see and smell. It's small in scale, uncluttered and that's what makes it so much fun. Put on something comfortable, bring cash and don't forget to stop for a coffee on a terrace by the square - people-watching is just part of the deal here. In about half an hour to an hour you will have seen everything, but if the sun is shining and the bread is still warm, you might linger a little longer.
