Salt on your lips, dust on your shoes. The Costa Tropical demands to be walked. Around La Herradura and Almuñécar you'll find routes that range from strolling along the promenade to climbing along cliffs. Sometimes you stand ankle-deep in a river. Sometimes you look out - silently - over the sea, mountains or both at once.
And it doesn't stop at the beach. From Nerja and Frigiliana you hike into the Sierra Almijara, where fragrant pines and wild goats cross your path. In Torrox and Cómpeta you walk past bodegas and farmyards. Continue towards Málaga, then discover coastal paths on the Costa del Sol, overlooking Africa. Head into the mountains towards Granada, then a totally different landscape awaits: cool, steep and quiet.
We collect on this page the most beautiful hikes of this region - walked ourselves, or tipped by locals. Short walks, day hikes, hidden trails. Some flat, others far above sea level. All different, all equally worthwhile. And always with the feeling that you want to stay here longer than you intended.
