At the far end of Torrox Costa's promenade stands a white tower with a story. The Faro de Torrox Costa is not just any lighthouse - it is a beacon of history, views and unexpected tranquility. Built in 1864, atop an ancient Roman settlement, the tower has been pointing the way for more than a century and a half. Today, it leads you to a small museum, a glass viewing deck and a walk along ancient foundations.
Inside the accompanying Centro de Interpretación, you dive into time with ancient sea maps, photographs and archaeological finds. Outside, you walk across a platform with glass panels that give a view of Roman baths and mosaic floors. You can hear the gentle rhythm of waves in the background and overlook two beaches. Come around sunset? Then you get the golden hour as a gift.
We wander streets ourselves, climb stairs and read informational signs that no one else reads. For these tips, we dive into guidebooks, Facebook groups and local stories - but often the best things you just discover on the spot. Have you been somewhere that made an impression? Or is there something missing from our description? Let us know. We would love to collect your discoveries for the next person who sets out.
