The Museo de Nerja may not be grand in size, but it is rich in stories. Located in the center of town, this modern museum takes you on a time travel through thousands of years of history. You start with archaeological finds from the Cueva de Nerja - think: tools, petroglyphs and ancient bones - and end with contemporary tourism that put the town on the map. The layout is uncluttered, the atmosphere pleasant. Ideal to escape the sun for a while or, on the contrary, to spend a rainy day meaningfully.
Whether you come with your partner, a group of friends or your family, the Museo de Nerja is accessible, affordable (€3) and surprisingly versatile. There are interactive elements for children and reduced rates for older people or European Youth Card holders. In about an hour and a half to two hours you will immerse yourself in the history of the region. There are no catering facilities inside, but just steps away you will find plenty of cozy cafes to round off your visit with a drink.
